Brianna Keilar, co-host of CNN's "New Day," on Thursday morning detailed former president Donald Trump's long history of frivolous lawsuits. Keilar's segment came in the wake of Trump's lawsuit against Facebook, Google and Twitter accusing them of violating his First Amendment rights — by banning him for inciting the Jan. 6 insurrection — even though the tech companies aren't government actors.

"This lawsuit strategy is same old, same old for Trump," Keilar began. "The art of the frivolous lawsuit has been his MO for decades. He does it for publicity. He does it to delay legitimate legal challenges. He does it to bury workers on his building projects — who just want to get paid for their manual labor — in legal bills. And in this case, he's doing it to raise money. One hour later, he sent fundraising emails."

ADonald Trump rally in the tiny town of Pickens, South Carolina, on July 1 left the community with $40,000 in expenses which community leaders are debating absorbing, reports WSPA/Fox8. The former president is headed to Erie, Pennsylvania, this Saturday still owing $35,000 for expenses incurred when the city hosted his Oct. 10, 2018, Make America Great Again rally at Erie Insurance Arena. City officials are still trying to have him settle that tab before he shows up for a new rally.

As for Pickens, local officials are pleased that the former president visited their small town with a population of under 4,000 and drew a crowd estimated to be over 50,000, although the former president claimed 75,000 showed up which was, in turn, disputed by the Secret Service.

That massive turnout caused the city to shell out about $30,000 to first responders who worked the event as well as an additional $10,000 for setup costs. According to the WSPA report, "While many said they wonder why Trump’s campaign didn’t pay those costs, the county said it would have been foolish to send the campaign a bill."

Former President Donald Trump's supporters have developed a worldview that is essentially the polar opposite of reality, argued political scientist Brian Klaas in a new Substack article examining the results of a new survey. These results, argued Klaas, give insight into a "warped bizarro world reality" that supporters of the former president has created for himself, even as he is facing criminal prosecution on several fronts.

But even more than that, Klaas said, the survey shows how dangerous it is for journalists to simply act as stenographers, detachedly reporting on claims politicians make without offering value judgements about their veracity — something that some political pundits have insisted is the best way to go about covering Trump and the GOP. "The Brightline Watch survey compares answers across two waves, one from October 2022 and another from June/July 2023. That way, you can see how some attitudes have changed across time," wrote Klaas.

Washington — Prosecutors with special counsel Jack Smith's office have added new charges against former President Donald Trump in the case involving documents with classified markings discovered at his Florida resort of Mar-a-Lago, according to court papers filed in federal court Thursday evening.

A superseding indictment unsealed by the Justice Department lists multiple new counts against Trump, including: altering, destroying, mutilating, or concealing an object; and corruptly altering, destroying, mutilating or concealing a document, record or other object; and an additional charge of willful retention of national defense information.

Trump was previously charged with 37 felony counts, including 31 counts of willful retention of classified documents and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice. He has pleaded not guilty and claimed the prosecution is a politically motivated "witch hunt" against him. Speaking Thursday with Breitbart, Trump called the charges "harassment" and "election interference."

At least two more fake electors have been subpoenaed in special counsel Jack Smith's investigation into former President Donald Trump's attempts to challenge and overturn the 2020 election results, NBC News reported. The electors are scheduled to appear in early August before the grand jury in Washington, marking their first testimony, a source told the outlet.

These individuals were part of groups of fake electors operating in seven battleground states. Most of them signed documents falsely claiming that Trump had won in states won by President Joe Biden. Numerous witnesses have already testified before the Washington-based grand jury as part of the investigation, including two electors from Nevada who appeared before the same grand jury last month.

For some years, a variety of news commentators and academics have called Donald Trump a fascist. I was one of those who resisted using that term. I thought it had long been abused by casual, imprecise applications, and as a historian of Nazi Germany, I did not think Trumpism was anywhere close to crossing the threshold of that comparison. I still deny that Trump’s presidency was fascist; but I’m concerned that if he wins another trip to the White House, he could earn the label.

Fascism was most fully exemplified by the regimes of Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler. These regimes combined totalitarian dictatorship, wars of imperial conquest, and outright genocide in the case of Hitler (of Jews, Slavs, Roma) or ethnic mass murder in Mussolini’s case (of Libyans, Ethiopians, Slovenes). Placing Trumpism in the same category seemed to me trivializing and misleading.

Former President Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election results have been the focus of two separate criminal investigations: one by special counsel Jack Smith for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the other by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis for the State of Georgia. If Trump is indicted in both cases, he will be facing four criminal prosecutions altogether; Trump's team of lawyers is already battling a 37-count federal indictment and a 34-count indictment in New York State.

All of this comes at a time when Trump is the clear frontrunner in the 2024 Republican presidential primary. Never before in U.S. history has an ex-president faced so many legal problems while seeming to be his party's most likely presidential nominee — assuming his poll numbers continue to hold up.

Kelly Ruh, a 2020 Republican elector for then-President Donald Trump, said she was "pissed." She had scheduled a day off from her accounting job to do her political duty and help secure her state of Wisconsin for the president. But the popular vote didn't add up for him, so she didn't understand why her party insisted on dragging her to the state Capitol in an attempt to make him the winner. “I was not expecting to prevail in the courts and was obviously pissed that I would be using a personal day off to go and complete that process,” Ruh, who was then a DePere city council member, told congressional investigators.

Ruh was among several dozen Republican electors for Trump across the country who didn’t see themselves as criminals, as gleaned from thousands of pages of congressional testimony, hearings and court records. In many cases, the electors were state party leaders, lawyers and political activists. They unabashedly took pictures of themselves and tweeted out the results of their meetings – despite warnings from Trump campaign aides to avoid the press. Several participants groused about the futility of meeting, but acquiesced to keep Trump’s legal options open.

The mayor of Erie, Pennsylvania is making an all-out effort to get Donald Trump to pay up tens of thousands of dollars he has refused to cough up for almost five years before the former president returns this weekend for another rally.

With Trump headed to Erie on Saturday as part of his campaign for the 2024 Republican Party presidential nomination, Mayor Joe Schember (D) told the Erie Times-News that pleas for the $35,000 owed have gone unheeded and city administrators are looking at ways to get him to pay before he hits town in less than a week.

According to the report, the $35,000 is for expenses incurred when the city hosted an Oct. 10, 2018, Make America Great Again at Erie Insurance Arena, which went to pay city workers assigned to the event, as well as police officers who worked overtime.

United States Representative Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland) on Sunday reminded the public that the events involving former President Donald Trump and his associates on and around January 6th, 2021 constituted "a very carefully orchestrated and choreographed plot to overthrow the election" and that "nothing spontaneous or out of control about" what went down that day. Raskin's remarks came as he was urging the American people to avoid downplaying the criminal nature of what occurred.

"Trump and his followers would invite us to believe that all of this was some kind of spontaneous eruption at a rally that just got a little bit out of control," Raskin said on The Katie Phang Show. "No. This was a very clear concerted plot that took place over many weeks to overthrow the results of the 2020 presidential election."

Anewly unredacted version of the search warrant used in the Mar-a-Lago investigation relating to Donald Trump‘s classified documents trial revealed that the Department of Justice has obtained security camera footage that “reflects that evidence has been moved recently”after a subpoena was issued by the DOJ for access to any classified documents and that “the current location of the boxes that were removed from the storage room area but not returned to it is unknown.”

The footage is quite relevant in the case against former president Trump, as it pertains to several of the counts against him in the indictment, including conspiracy to obstruct justice, withholding a document or record, corruptly concealing a document or record, concealing a document in a federal investigation, and a scheme to conceal.

Donald Trump has repeatedly demonstrated, through the many direct and implied threats of violence that he has made during his decades of public life, that he is a very violent man.

The many recent examples of Trump's violent ways include wishing death upon Hunter Biden and inciting his followers to assassinate former president Barack Obama by sharing what is presumed to be the latter's home address online. One of Trump's followers acted on those de facto commands last month and was apprehended by the Secret Service near Obama's Washington, D.C. home. The would-be assassin was armed with two guns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Just this week, in a post on his Truth Social disinformation platform, Trump shared audio of his 2020 interview with the late right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh, in which Trump says, "If you f**k around with us, if you do something bad to us, we are going to do things to you that have never been done before."
Trump has done things that have never been done before: Impeached twice in one term, attempted a coup, incited insurrection and sedition that caused the sacking of our capitol to name a few.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) pointed out what she thought the House Oversight Committee “should be prosecuting” as she shifted the focus of a hearing on the Biden family and called into question former President Donald Trump receiving payments from China in 2017.

The first-term Democrat, in remarks at the hearing Wednesday, called on the Republican-led committee to look at the payments as she read from an NBC News report on Trump’s tax returns that went public in December. “We should be looking at the fact that ‘in 2017, Trump’s first year in office, he also made $6.5 million from China, his tax returns show,’” she said, adding that the source of the payments “is not clear from the returns.”

Judge Aileen Cannon, the Trump appointee overseeing his Mar-a-Lago documents case, on Tuesday appeared skeptical of special counsel Jack Smith's request for a December trial but also seemed disinclined to push the trial schedule beyond the 2024 election as the former president's legal team had asked. Smith's team urged Cannon to schedule a trial before the end of the year while Trump's lawyers asked her to delay the trial indefinitely, citing his presidential campaign.

Cannon on Tuesday directly asked Trump attorney Christopher Kise whether he wanted to delay the trial after the election, according to The New York Times. Kise acknowledged that he did and fellow Trump lawyer Todd Blanche later said that if Cannon must schedule a trial date, it should be in mid-November 2024. David Harbach, a top Smith deputy, told Cannon that the rule of law should apply to Trump as it would to any defendant.

E. Jean Carroll’s case against Donald Trump ended with the jury finding the former president liable for assault and defamation. The civil lawsuit brought up another alleged story on the surface. Carroll, in her lawsuit, alleged that Trump raped her in a New York City department store in the 90s. However, she sued over calling her “a liar.”

One lawsuit never got enough attention and was quickly dropped since the alleged victim was a 13-year-old virgin. The initial allegations, brought by attorney Lisa Bloom claimed Johnson was violently raped in 1994. The assault allegedly happened when the 13-year-old attended org..s organized by Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein allegedly lured Johnson by promising her a modeling career. In the withdrawn lawsuit, Johnson claimed she met Trump four times.

One encounter was described as a “savage sexual attack.” Allegedly, Johnson “loudly pleaded” for the former president to stop when he started “violently striking Plaintiff in the face with his open hand and screaming that he would do whatever he wanted.”

Donald Trump's fingerprints analysis to build a clearer picture of how widely classified information was exposed at former President Donald Trump's document stashes, former FBI agent Pete Strzok detailed on Twitter Thursday. A woman convicted for her role in the January 6 insurrection fired back at Donald Trump after he tried to use her story for political gain, RadarOnline.comhas learned. Idaho grandmother Pamela Hemphill, 70, was convicted for participating in the Capitol riot that aimed to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Trump's favor.

Awoman who stormed the Capitol on former President Donald Trump's behalf is now repentant for her actions -- and she now thinks the former president is the leader of a "cult." In an interview with The Daily Beast, 70-year-old Idaho resident Pamela Hemphill said she was horrified when Trump recently used her case to argue that Capitol rioters faced unfair prosecutions.

Although she was once a dedicated MAGA devotee, she now says that she regrets getting sucked into the former president's orbit. “You don’t see it as a cult when you’re in it,” she said. “You don’t recognize it.” Hemphill would go on to spend 60 days in prison for breaking into the Capitol, but it wasn't until she returned home to her family that she received an intervention that pulled her out of total dedication to the former president.

"[My family was] telling me, ‘Pam, you’re in a cult. You really need to get out of that… We really care about you, but this is a cult. You’re trapped in a cult,’" she said. After his, she tells The Daily Beast that she started to see more of Trump's flaws.

An audio recording in which Donald Trump appears to acknowledge keeping a classified document after leaving the White House has been obtained by US media.
In the recording, the former president is heard riffling through papers and saying: "This is highly confidential." It was first obtained by CNN, but the BBC's US partner CBS also has the clip. Mr Trump has pleaded not guilty to federal charges of mishandling sensitive documents.

CNN was the first to publish the roughly two-minute recording, which it said came from a July 2021 meeting at Mr Trump's Bedminster, New Jersey golf club between him and several people working on the memoir of his former chief of staff Mark Meadows.

Reflecting back on the two-part Fox News interview Donald Trump granted to host Bret Baier, columnist Ann Marie Cox came away with the impression that the normally combative ex-president has all but thrown in the towel and is just going through the motions as he runs for president a third time.

Writing for MSNBC. the longtime political observer suggested that, after watching the interviews, it is apparent Trump is "pantomiming the same old manic exaggerations and empty boasts, but if you listen closely, you’ll hear the whisper of a deflating airbag."

As she noted, the former president didn't seem to be up to the task of steadfastly defending his record as president and equivocated when pressed to defend some of his previous comments and actions.

Former President Donald Trump erupted on social media early Thursday after special counsel Jack Smith began turning over evidence Wednesday from his investigation into Trump's handling of classified documents and alleged attempts to obstruct government retrieval efforts.

A Wednesday court filing signals that investigators obtained several recordings from "interviews" of Trump "conducted by non-government entities" — not just the previously reported audio of Trump during an interview for former chief of staff Mark Meadows' memoir.

The first batch of evidence produced in the case's discovery period, which is comprised of unclassified materials, also includes transcripts of witness testimony before grand juries in Florida and Washington, D.C., subpoenaed and seized materials, memos describing other witness interviews given in the investigation through mid-May, and copies of surveillance footage obtained in the inquiry, according to CNN.

Anew filing in the bombshell criminal case against ex-President Donald Trump shows multiple recordings of Trump among the evidence turned over to the defense. One of the most explosive pieces of evidence to emerge in the 37-count indictment against Trump on Espionage Act charges was the audio recording on which Trump discussed a classified document that he had taken with him when he left the White House — a tape in which Trump acknowledged he can’t show the document to his visitors because of the classification attached to it.

But a new filing in the case is raising eyebrows. It details the first batch of evidence that has been provided to Trump’s attorneys through the discovery process, which includes “interviews” — plural — that match the description of the tape we already know about:

There was a lot of time spent in the weeds during Wednesday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing with special counsel John Durham. Lawmakers burned hours trying to spin, parse and unpack the dense, 300-page report he issued last month into the origins of the FBI’s 2016 investigation of former President Donald Trump. Names that nobody who hasn’t been glued to the coverage of the Russia probe and its aftermath would recognize got thrown around to a degree that at several points even I was left wondering, “Who?”

It wasn’t the most riveting of hearings, but here’s the bottom line: John Durham found nothing to discredit special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. At no point in his testimony did he take the bait from Republicans to give credence to Trump’s “Russia hoax” rhetoric. If anything, Durham went out of the way to praise his predecessor — even if his grasp on what Mueller found proved to be a bit shaky.

A Florida judge handed prosecutors in Donald Trump’s classified documents lawsuit a significant victory on Monday by ruling the former president cannot publicly disclose any of the evidence against him. Trump, who was arraigned in Miami last week on a 37-count indictment over his improper storage and handling of classified materials at his Mar-a-Lago resort, can also only view, but not retain, any of the evidence under the direct supervision of his lawyers, the order from the magistrate judge, Bruce Reinhart, stated.

The secrecy ruling in particular will thwart Trump, who has been a vocal critic of justice department prosecutors and special counsel Jack Smith on his Truth Social website, from attempting to publicize or spin any of the evidence to his advantage as he continues to insist the case against him is a politically motivated “witch-hunt”.
